Thoughts: Homesick For Your Dreams

"Every dreamer knows that it is entirely possible to be homesick for a place you've never been to, perhaps more homesick than for familiar ground.” - Judith Thurman

I came across that quote this week while writing a caption for a post on Instagram. It made me stop, think and reflect on my own self. As a dreamer and passionate creative there are times I want to skip the hard work I know needs to be done. They say the sky is the limit, so why limit myself?

One of the hardest things to swallow is that there are very few people who skip the hard work and gain instant success. I’ve learned you don’t just wake up from your dreams one day and end up exactly where you want to be. The hard work must be put in, dues must be paid and you must not make excuses.

Looking back, it is fascinating to me to map out the chain of events that have led me to where I am now. Everything happened because at one point or another I took hold of an opportunity and ran with it. You must be open to every viable opportunity that comes your way as you never know which one will be the next chain link to achieving your dreams.

So, go out into the world. Grab opportunity by the horns. Stop making excuses. Put in the hard work. Dream fearlessly and limitlessly. One day you’ll wake up from a dream and realize you’re living it and you’ll no longer be homesick.
